This storefront at 1238 Main, shown in about 1905, was a general store run by the Henry M. Cole family, who came to Crete in 1885. Out front are Monroe Cole, May Cole and Lilly Kolarik Kolouch. Many stores of this era had retractable awnings, as seen here. This spot was a longtime jewelry store and most recently a restaurant.
