In the 100 block on the north side of East 13th, William Kersenbrock ran a saloon and is locally famous for charging Buffalo Bill Cody with drunkeness after New YearÕs Eve 1888. The building is the end of a row of brick structures, now occupied by JanetÕs Shear Design, next to Sapp Brothers gas station on the corner. The second floor facade of brick as changed over time. The building later was home to the office of The Crete News for 35 years after the staff had moved from the basement of the former BandÕs Opera House on the northwest corner of 13th and Main.
